Hello Miles Tribe! I hope this finds you well wherever you may be. Personally, I am writing this from the comfort of my favorite chair while listening to some mellow music with peppermint essential oil in my diffuser. And as mellow and relaxing as all of these things are, I have some pretty exciting things to share with y’all in this post. It has been a much requested post/review and I am thrilled that I finally bit the bullet and did it! I have subscribed to the Fab Fit Fun service.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, Fab Fit Fun is a company that specially curates seasonal subscription boxes packed with full-size, premium beauty and skincare products, accessories, small homewares, etc. It goes out four times a year and the boxes are themed around the seasons (summer, fall, winter, spring). The boxes are about $49.99/each and the site advertises that each box has a combined value of over $200 worth of products.
If you’re not sure if this is for you, you can look into their starter box option which you can sign up to receive through a link from someone who has a current subscription (all you pay is shipping cost). The starter box is a smaller version of the seasonal box and contains some great items in it as well. Mine came with a super cute purse (which I have been using every since it came in), a full-size, dead sea hand lotion, and an awesome lip stain duo. I love all of it!
SO! Let’s get into my first official summer box (which also happens to support the Wildlife Conservation Society)!
The box also includes a newsletter and a list of the products which are included and their relative values (I did not include these in the pictures). But as you can clearly see, this box is jam-packed full of goodies!
First up is this adorable jewelry catch-all dish from Pier1 Imports. It’s a faux marble dish with rose gold edges which is very on trend at the moment. It’s the perfect size to catch rings and earrings on the bathroom counter or to store some paperclips on a desktop.
This next item is one of my absolute favorites from this box. It’s am aromatherapy muscle gel which is supposed to help de-stress and soothe muscles. I’m not sure if it works but I can say with certainty that the scent alone is very calming. It’s a beautiful lavender, rosemary, black pepper fragrance and the product itself isn’t heavy like some of them can be. It absorbs quickly without leaving any sticky residue.
I’m not sure how much use I’ll get out of this but I do think it’s pretty good to have on hand and it’ll probably last me a long time. It’s this Orlando Pita Play Atmos-Shield Hair Protectant Spray. It’s meant to protect your hair and nourish it against damage caused by heat styling but I really don’t use heat styling tools on my hair if I can help it. The most I’m guilty of is a blowout now and then. I have been using just a bit of it through my damp hair, through, just to see what sort of conditioning properties it has and it’s not bad. Nothing noticeably brilliant, but not bad. I’ll have to try it out the next time I style my hair and I’ll let y’all know (probably through Instagram –> @milestogoxo).
I am so excited about this one! Sunscreen, y’all. Seems simple enough, right? WRONG! I struggle to find good sunscreens that work without being sticky or heavy underneath my makeup. I try to use makeup with SPF already in it in order to combat this issue but it’s not always easy to get the right amount of protection and coverage in one product. I cannot wait to try out this organic, vegan, cruelty-free, SPF 50 sunscreen. Did I mention it smells like white tea? Ohmyheart!
Okay. So I will say that of all the things in this box, this product is probably the most disappointing. I’m not sure if it’s because I had such high hopes going into this or what but I tried this Foreo face scrubber and found it a bit… lacking. The scrubber itself is great but the prime feature of this product is that it can connect to your phone via Bluetooth and sync with the associate app to analyze your skin and your cleansing technique. I tried downloading the app and I have yet to get it to work properly. I’m not sure if it’s my connection, the app itself, or the scrubber… Maybe it’s a user error? Who knows. Point is, it doesn’t connect or tell me anything at all about the moisture levels in my skin or where I could be doing more. Do I really need it to? No. But should it do what it’s advertised to? Yeah, probably. *I also spoke with another friend who received this box and she didn’t have any luck with the app either. I’m waiting on a second friend to receive her box so we can get another opinion.
Work, work, work, work, work… Anyone else love to workout in the summer but get stuck in a rut? I’m so thrilled that this box has a great resistance band which is small enough to tuck into my bag and take with me wherever I go. I don’t use resistance bands much and so it’s been a lot of fun looking up different ways to engage different muscle groups to get great results without getting bored with my regular routine. #crushingit
I know y’all have been wondering when I was going to get to this one. I tried to save it for last but I’m just as anxious to talk about it as y’all are to see it. As much as I love makeup and beauty products, I do not own any Tarte Cosmetics. Well, that is to say that I didn’t own any Tarte Cosmetics. IHAVEBEENMISSINGOUT! Ohmygoodness, this palette is everything and THEN some. I have been doing full face with just this palette. Eyes, bronzer, contour, highlighter… I love this palette. This may be my new if-I-were-stranded-on-a-desert-island product. It has so many different shades and tones to create different looks. Mostly I’m just obsessed with the pigmentation and the way I can effortlessly achieve an equally sun-kissed and dewy complexion with just one makeup product. I love it. I’m sold. I will buy this a thousand times over. SO worth it.
And finally, to top it all off, I have this beautiful makeup bag to store all of my new products. It’s hard to show when it’s flat but it has compartments for makeup brushes, extra storage in a separate compartment on top and of course a larger area in the body of the case. It’s a beautiful floral pattern with this periwinkle color which I’m very drawn to at the moment.
All in all, I am thrilled with my first (official) box. Were there some hits and misses? Yes. But that’s the risk you run with subscription boxes. And the point, for me at least, is to try things I may not ordinarily try for myself; an opportunity to try the things that we talk ourselves out of in the moment. I wound up getting to know a little bit about several new brands that I can’t wait to explore further. Not to mention I fell in love with the best palette of my young life. So if you’re on the fence about Fab Fit Fun I hope this little preview helped. If you already love your Fab Fit Fun, let me know in the comments below what your favorite products are/have been. I can’t wait for the fall box! Fall is my favorite so I have unrealistically high hopes. Until next time, loves. Wishing you all good things. Always.
