Oh honey. If you’re in my boat, this winter has totally kicked my skin’s butt. My skin has been through the ringer and it’s time to bust out some serious backup. Lucky for me, I have all the major players waiting in the wings to lend me a hand.
Welcome back fam. Today I’m sharing with y’all one of my go-to winter rehab DIY’s. When it comes to my skin, I’m a wreck. I’m dry, easily irritated, easily inflamed, basically super fun, right? One of the best ways to help heal my skin any time of year is with a great, gentle exfoliant that can provide and lock-in the moisture that I need without turning me into a swamp thing. Too much? Sorry, not sorry. Real life, folks.
So today’s hack is quick and dirty in the best, cleanest way possible.
DIY Sugar Coffee Scrub:
- 1/2 Cup of Coffee grounds (*you can use something else like lavender or a great tea blend if coffee isn’t your thing)
- 1/2 Cup of Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup of Coconut Oil (preferably refined)
- A container of your choice (I recycled a candle container from the holiday season)
The oil works best if it’s melted but NOT hot. I mixed the dry ingredients together first and then added in the oil slowly. This way I can control the consistency of my scrub. If you want it a bit chunkier then you won’t need a lot of oil. If you want a thinner consistency, add a bit more oil.
With the natural ingredients it’s something I feel comfortable using on my skin without fear of an allergic reaction. The coconut oil is gentle without being heavy and while I may not be drinking coffee these days, it’s a great additive in scrubs for its rejuvenating properties especially with under eye circles. Healing teas like chamomile and green tea are also great in scrubs like these.
So if you or someone you know is in need of a quick pick-me-up, raid your kitchen and throw together this concoction. Your friends and your skin will thank you.
I told you this was a quick one. Until next time, tribe. Wishing you all good things. Always. XO
