I realize you’re all probably reading this at different times but I just had to give a shoutout to Tarka Indian Kitchen for helping a girl out. Leftover takeout for breakfast? Hell yeah! Real life, y’all. Sometimes it’s egg whites with vegetarian bacon and sometimes it’s leftover shrimp and vegetable Saag. It’s called balance. Welcome to my world.
Hello Miles Tribe! Welcome back! I just had to share with y’all the comical juxtaposition that is my morning. Who are we kidding, my life is a comical juxtaposition and if you can’t see yourself that way at least sometimes then maybe it’s time to start. Because honestly, it’s a lot more fun and a lot less stressful. We’re on sort of a weird kick this morning, no? Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I am currently watching some of my favorite YouTubers and they’re a lil’ EXTRA. Anyway! It is a new month & that means a new Goddess Provisions subscription box! *happy dance* Now, it’s been a few months now that I’ve been subscribing to Goddess Provisions and it has been smooth sailing so far. Basically, we were due for a bit of a mishap. This box was that mishap. But more on that later. Let’s get on it, y’all!
The first thing in this box right on top is this beautiful sort of velvety, soft touch notebook with a metallic foil print called “Silver Eyes” from Denik. Very bohemian, very cool and funky. I have an obsession with notebooks and I pick them up almost every time I’m out. I would say I have a problem, but is it really a problem? Is it?… Yeah, I don’t think so either. Especially not with a company like Denik that donates proceeds from sales to help build schools and support artists. And inside each notebook you get to see which countries you’re helping to build schools in. How cool is that?! Now I will say that Goddess Provisions lists the value at $12 but I found on the website that current retail price is $9.99. Maybe the price went down?
Underneath the notebook, the first thing that caught my eye was this beautiful mason jar with this inspirational vinyl decal message. “Raise your vibration with love and gratitude.” YES! Let’s. Please. Now I’m pretty sure this mason jar was commissioned specifically for/by Goddess Provisions because it doesn’t have any separate company listing information anywhere on the jar or on the inventory card. Now I’m going to be honest. This product is not the best. But I’d like to think that the little imperfections (the Goddess Provisions emblem on the bottom is off center, there’s a deep, sharp groove in one of the sides of the glass, an the vinyl is not the best quality) are because they were more focused on using recycled products and earth-friendly products. But of course I can’t say this with 100% confidence because there’s no product information for this listing. What I can say is that I will not be using it to drink out of because it doesn’t seem the safest what with the deep scratch or groove on the side. I’ll probably use it as a cute mini terrarium or a jar to hold my brushes or something. Retail: $9.00
TEA!!!!! Now y’all know your girl loves some tea. And in my recent quest to reduce/eliminate caffeine from my life (RIP Italian Dark Roast) I have been leaning more heavily on tea and the amazing benefits that natural herbs and homeopathic remedies have to offer. So Numi Organic Tea has the holistic hookup so if you haven’t checked out all of their amazing teas, GET ON IT! In the mornings I still have trouble convincing my brain that I won’t need help from caffeine so something vibrant and citrusy like this “Vision” blend from Numi has just enough to give this blogger a push in the right direction. Retail: $7.99
If you’ve been following my Goddess Provisions posts then you know that in each box we can count on some sort of beautiful crystal or stone. This one is called Dalmatian Jasper and it hails from Chihuahua, Mexico. “The Dalmatian Jasper is a stone known to combat exhaustion and boredom. When you wear this on your body, things will get more interesting whether you’re at a party or spending a night on your own. This stone is an instant pick me up. It will fill you with energy that will allow you to have a fun time whether you like it or not.” I’m not sure where Goddess Provisions purchased this particular stone from but they say that it retails for $4.00
Lime. Rosemary. Pine Needles. Peppermint. This “Motivate” essential oil blend from The Hippie Homesteader is the ultimate pick-me-up. Peppermint essential oil is life. Mix that with my love of citrus and rosemary and we’re in business, y’all. And pine needles? Pine needles?! It smells like the mountains I grew up in. Take me home to the west coast, y’all! And if I can’t be home, at least I can smell like my childhood. Retail: $10.00
In each Goddess Provisions box there’s a fun food product to try and I was super excited to open the box and see that this one was chocolate. Chocolate is life. And one of my favorite things about Goddess Provisions is being able to try new products that I wouldn’t normally try. Sugar-free, vegan, paleo, gluten-free, Keto-friendly, raw chocolate would be one of those things I wouldn’t normally go out and pursue for myself. Especially at $7.75 for a small box consisting of four bite-size pieces. Definitely not the best value, but I do appreciate the attention to quality and production that Addictive Wellness provides as a company. This is my second time (I think?) trying vegan chocolate and it’s still not my favorite. I understand that I’m comparing it to the super sugary, pumped-up version of chocolate that I am used to in my normal life. Maybe it’s an acquired taste? Maybe if I cut out all other chocolate and I was really craving something this might seem more appealing. I’m not sure. All-in-all, not my cup of tea. *Also, my husband enjoyed this and threw out the box when he was done, but this is what it looks like from the website*
Two words for y’all: (1) vegan (2) makeup. Vegan makeup, y’all. Pacifica is a 100% vegan, cruelty free company that focuses on makeup, skincare, body/hair care, and perfume products. As a basic human being dealing with every day stress, sometimes your girl needs a little extra in the under eye department. Pacifica has taken all of us into account with this Dark Circle Rehab concentrated correcting creams set in peach, purple, and beige. It explains on the back of the packaging which color is best for what you’re working to conceal or even out. I can’t wait to play with this and really get a handle on healthy skin. What better way than to use products that are devoid of a lot of the harmful chemicals and harsh additives that are found in standard cosmetics? Retail: $14.00
Fam! Goddess Provisions is on that new-year-new-you train. They have so generously gifted each of their subscribers with a 30day free trial membership for Yoga International. You can access their videos from anywhere and if you’re new to yoga or are looking for something new to try this is GREAT! If you’ve read some of my posts from the new year so far you know this girl has got some goals. I will be getting on this for sure. Now you’ll notice that this isn’t listed on the inventory list below. That’s because this is more of an advertisement. Y’all. ANYONE can go on the website and sign up for a free 30day trial. This is not a sale product. It is literally available to the public. IKR?!
That’s it, fam! Now, I promised y’all a bit of information about the aforementioned mishap. Basically, when I initially received my box from Goddess Provisions, it was damaged. By damaged, I mean there were glass shards falling out of the box. The journal, as I mentioned, was on the top when I opened the box and immediately under that on the outside wall was the mason jar. The mason jar was not wrapped in bubble wrap. It was not wrapped in recycled paper. It WAS in the thinnest plastic bag imaginable. I mean, the plastic bags that my clothes come in when I shop online are thicker than this tiny bit of plastic. And because we keep it 100 around here, as much as I freaking love Goddess Provisions, I was so disappointed by their packaging this go ’round. I have family who run a mail order service. They would never dream of mailing something breakable in such a way. It wouldn’t even be an option, y’all.
Now I completely understand/appreciate/respect Goddess Provisions as a company and the way they are really earth-friendly and conscious about the companies they partner with and the products they share with their subscribers. I get that maybe they wouldn’t want to use non-sustainable packaging like a thicker plastic or bubble wrap. But in not having wrapped their product properly the first time, I can only imagine how much more they spent in production, shipping, etc. by having to replace all of the broken jars out there in the world. I mean, I couldn’t have been the only one.
That being said, when I picked up my box glass was falling out, right? Opening the box for the first time, the journal was cut up and damaged. There was glass inside the tea. There was glass inside the chocolate box (*and the perforated seal on the chocolate box had been cut already like it was previously opened or cut by the glass). There was glass sticking to the taped seals on the products. There was glass in the makeup box. It. Was. EVERYWHERE. I was heartbroken. Naturally, I reached out to Goddess Provisions immediately and this part’s important, y’all… Their customer service was ON POINT! They were apologetic. They took responsibility. They made it right ASAP. They replaced not only the pulverized mason jar, but the entire box of products (and thank goodness, because that ish was not safe). Being 100% honest, a company’s customer service is just as important (if not more so) than the product itself. And if we’re all being honest, how many times have we gone back to a store or restaurant or facility because their staff and their policies are awesome? How many times have we avoided totally great products because the service sucks? Reality, folks. Real life. Think about it.
So it was a bit of a rollercoaster this time, fam. I appreciate you hanging in there with me. I can’t wait to see what’s in next month’s box. Big shoutout and huge thanks to Goddess Provisions for their amazing customer service. Seriously, it makes all the difference. As always, I wish you all good things. Always. XO
