Ultimate Face-Off: L’Oréal Pure Clay Mask

Y’all I am excited about this one! Excited and a bit skeptical. Now I’ve tried a fair amount of face masks over the years and I’ve had some great results and some not so great. Overall I’m pretty open to trying new things but I am a bit more particular when it comes to my skin. I have combination dry skin so I have to be careful that the products I use don’t dry out or irritate my sensitive skin.

L’Oréal has come out with this Pure-Clay Mask that’s meant to detoxify and brighten skin using a combination of 3 pure clays (Kaolin, Montmorillonite, and Moroccan lava clays) and charcoal. It’s available in the skincare section at local drugstores and it’s fairly priced (I got mine at Target for only $10). There are several different kinds but I wanted to try this one specifically because reviews say it focuses on clearing blackheads and impurities which I struggle with.

Some have compared this product with one carried by Sephora called GlamGlow Supermud that retails between $24-$99 depending on size. I paid $10 for 1.7OZ of the L’Oréal product versus $69 for 1.7OZ of the GlamGlow Supermud. Tough choice, right? Yeah… so because I’m not made of money and the L’Oréal was easily accessible, that’s what we’re doing today, fam. LET’S GO!

Overall thoughts:

  • Smells awesome!
  • Didn’t dry my skin out
  • Easy application
  • Skin feels soft and clean
  • Pores are a bit clearer
  • Not a miracle product, but still good
  • Would I use it again? Definitely

In all fairness, I didn’t expect this to transform me into a Disney princess with flawless skin and singing animals to help me with household chores. For a first time use I’m pretty satisfied with the results. My skin is softer, my pores are a bit clearer and the product itself is appealing. I’ll be continuing to use this and I’ll check in with y’all in about a week or two with an update. Who knows? Maybe I’ll spring for the GlamGlow this holiday season and we can compare. Leave a comment below if you’d like to see this comparison or if you’ve tried either of these products. I’d love to know! Until then, babes, I wish you all good things. Always. Xo

  1. Totally digging the new video AND I think I’m going to have to pick up that mask. I have to be careful about what I put on my skin too. I tend to break out and struggle with black heads. I’ve yet to find and product to truly get rid of those pesky devils! Who would have thought I would still be searching for a product st almost 30 years old to clear my skin. *le sigh
